ABOUT

Project PEACE (Promoting Education and Community Empowerment ) is a program designed for high school students with a focus on conflict resolution, cross- cultural communication  and encouraging youth to be change agents in under served communities in the borough of Brooklyn. For over 10 years, The Brooklyn College Community Partnership (The BCCP) has served over 1500 youth per year from under served communities in Brooklyn. The organization’s mission is to provide college access services to youth in Brooklyn, build holistic relationships with youth and community leaders, as well as empower them to have their voices heard.  Youth in The BCCP Program develop their leadership skills through the arts. In the past 10 years, youth have been able to utilize the multimedia skills and visual arts they have gained from the BCCP teaching artists to use their talent toward social change.  The youth have been able to create art pieces based on the issues that affect them the most such as: racial profiling, changing communities, and the need to end violence. This online curriculum serves as a guide and reflection of the work The BCCP has successfully achieved in youth development through the arts and college access. This online curriculum also reflects The BCCP’s dedication to working with every youth and facilitating workshops that reflect Howard Gardners’ multiple intelligences.
